About me
Joshua is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Monmouth College with a Ph.D. in religious studies from Stanford University. His research delves into the intersections of religion, culture, and environmental humanities, with a special interest in countercultural and alternative forms of thought and practice. An internationally recognized scholar, he has published with Cambridge University, Brill, and Routledge Presses as well as multiple peer reviewed journals. Outside academia, Joshua is a musician, sound artist, and writer, with seven albums spanning folk, postpunk, and doom genres. He has performed across North America, Europe, and Russia and has exhibited work at venues like SFMOMA and the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art. Currently, he is working on a monograph on Jacob Böhme’s concept of “apophatic ecology,” and an archival project with Harvard University’s Center for World Religions. Additionally, his multimedia project exploring apocalyptic spirituality and the ecological crisis will be released on Prophecy Productions in spring 2025.
